Exploring a Fun “Ennichi” Festival with My Children!
先日、子どもの保育園で開催された「縁日あそび」に参加してきました！今回は、その時の楽しい様子を皆さんにシェアしたいと思います!
The other day, I joined an Ennichi-style festival at my children’s nursery school! !
Today, I’d love to share this fun experience with you.
日本の保育園の先生方のアイデアは、本当に素晴らしいんです！今回の縁日あそびにも、子どもたちが楽しめる工夫がたくさん詰まっていました。
Japanese nursery school teachers have such wonderful and creative ideas! Everything at this event was carefully designed to make children smile and have fun.
What Is an “Ennichi” in Japan?
「縁日」って知っていますか？
皆さんは、日本の「縁日」を知っていますか？実際に行ったことはありますか？
Have you ever heard of an Ennichi (縁日) in Japan? Have you ever visited one?
実は私、このブログを書くために少し調べてみて、新しい発見がありました！
I actually learned something new while researching for this blog!
本来、「縁日」とは神様や仏様と縁のある日に、神社やお寺で参拝や信仰のために人々が集まる日のことだったそうです。
Originally, an Ennichi was a special day connected to a particular Buddhist deity or Shinto kami, when people would visit a temple or shrine for worship.
つまり、本来は「お祭りの屋台」そのものを意味する言葉ではなかったんですね！
In other words, the word Ennichi did not originally mean the food stalls and games themselves!
現在では、日本人にとって「屋台や露店が並ぶ、にぎやかで楽しいイベント」というイメージがとても強いですよね
Today, however, many Japanese people associate Ennichi with a lively and exciting event filled with food stalls, games, and fun activities.
私もずっと、「縁日＝お祭りの屋台」のことだと思っていました（笑）。
To be honest, I had always thought that Ennichi simply meant festival stalls and games too!
日本人なのに、日本の文化についてまだまだ知らないことがあるんだな…と少し恥ずかしくなりました（笑）。
Even though I’m Japanese, I realized there are still so many things about Japanese culture that I don’t fully understand! Haha.
“Ennichi Play”? A Summer Festival?
「縁日あそび？」「夏祭り？」
What should we call this event? An Ennichi play day? A summer festival?
とにかく言えることはひとつ！
One thing is for sure…
It was SO much fun!
今回は、日本の保育園の先生方の素晴らしいアイデアがたくさん詰まった、楽しいお祭りをご紹介します！

Let me show you some of the amazing handmade games and activities created by the nursery school teachers!
Welcome to the Festival!
Entrance
入口では、日本を代表する子ども向けアニメキャラクター、アンパンマンがお出迎えしてくれました！
At the entrance, we were welcomed by Anpanman, one of Japan’s most famous children’s characters!
…と言っても、もちろん本物ではありません（笑）。
Well… not the real Anpanman, of course!
先生たちが一生懸命作った、手作り感たっぷりのアンパンマンとバイキンマンです！
The teachers had created handmade versions of Anpanman and Baikinman, and they were full of personality and charm.
その手作り感が、またとっても可愛かったです！
The handmade feeling made them even more adorable!
Mask Fishing Game お面釣り
ブルーシートを海に見立て、その上にはたくさんの海の生き物や人気キャラクターのお面が並んでいました
A blue sheet was used to represent the ocean, and it was covered with handmade sea creatures and character masks.
ひとつひとつ丁寧に絵が描かれ、色が塗られていて、本当に細かく作られていました！
Each one was carefully drawn and colored by hand. The amount of detail was amazing!
釣り竿は、新聞紙をぎゅっと硬く丸めたもの。
The fishing rod was made from tightly rolled newspaper.
その先には紐がついていて、さらに先端にはS字フックがついていました。
A string was attached to the end, with an S-shaped hook at the tip.
お面や海の生き物にはクリップがついていて、そこにフックを上手く引っ掛けて釣る仕組みです！
The masks and sea creatures had paper clips attached, and the children had to carefully hook them and “catch” them.
子どもたちはとても集中していて、釣れた瞬間にはとっても嬉しそうでした
The children were incredibly focused, and they looked so happy whenever they successfully caught something!
ちなみに、我が家の1歳の息子には少し難しかったようです（笑）。
My one-year-old son found it a little difficult, though!
Rolling Ball Game コロコロボール遊び
次は、とても面白いボールゲーム！
Next was a really fun rolling ball game! ⚽✨
高さのある板に丸い障害物がついていて、上からボールを転がします。
A board was set up with round obstacles, and the children rolled a ball down from the top.
ボールがどこに進むか、ドキドキしながら見守ります！
It was exciting to watch and see where the ball would go!
ゴールは2つ。
There were two possible goals:
「もう一回！」
“One more time!”
そして…
「ヨーヨープレゼント！」
“Yo-yo prize!”
0歳の赤ちゃんから5歳くらいの子どもまで楽しめる、とても素敵なアトラクションでした！
It was a wonderful activity that children of many different ages could enjoy, from babies to five-year-olds.
さらに、板には海の中の絵や、日本の夏祭りでよく見るラムネや提灯のイラストが貼られていました
The board was also decorated with illustrations of the ocean, Japanese ramune soda, and traditional festival lanterns.
これもすべて、一つひとつ丁寧に色が塗られ、綺麗に切り取られていました。
Every single decoration had been carefully colored and cut out by hand.
先生たち、本当に器用すぎます…！
Japanese nursery school teachers are seriously SO talented!
Cotton Candy Photo Spot 写真スペース
皆さん、「わたあめ」を知っていますか？
Do you know cotton candy? 🍭
日本語では「わたあめ」と呼ばれています！
In Japanese, we call it wataame (わたあめ).
日本の夏祭りでは、カラフルな袋に入ったわたあめを見かけることがあります。
At Japanese summer festivals, you can often find cotton candy in colorful bags.
最近は少し見かける機会が減ったような気もしますが、日本の夏祭りを思い出す定番のアイテムのひとつです！
Although it may be less common than before, cotton candy is still something many people associate with Japanese summer festivals.
今回は、そんな子どもたちが大好きな「わたあめ屋さん」をイメージした可愛い写真スペースがありました📸💕
This nursery school created an adorable photo spot inspired by a cotton candy stall! 🥰
もちろん、記念にパシャリ📸✨
Of course, we had to take some photos! 📸💕
Target Shooting Game 的当てゲーム
次は、安全でとても楽しい手作りの的当てゲーム！
Next was a safe and exciting handmade target shooting game! 🎯
ペットボトルを加工し、ゴム風船を使ってボールを飛ばす仕組みになっていました。
The teachers created a launcher using recycled plastic bottles and balloons to shoot small balls.
子どもたちは海の生き物を狙って、ボールを飛ばします🐠
The children aimed at sea creatures and tried to hit the targets! 🐠🎯
こうした遊びは、集中力や空間を意識する力を使う楽しいゲームでもあります。
Games like this can encourage children to focus and think about distance and movement while having fun.
そして、ペットボトルの切り口で手を切らないように、カラーテープでしっかり補強されていました。
The edges of the plastic bottles were carefully covered with colorful tape to help keep the game safe for children.
安全にも可愛さにもこだわっていて、本当に素晴らしかったです！
It was both safe and adorable! 🥹✨
Food Education Game 食育ゲーム
次は、とっても可愛い食育ゲーム！
Next was an adorable food education game! 🥕🐰
「ご飯をしっかり食べよう！野菜もたくさん食べよう！」というメッセージが込められているような遊びです。
The game seemed to encourage children to eat well and enjoy lots of vegetables. 🥦🥕
子どもたちは、バスケットに入った手作りの野菜を動物たちの口に入れてあげます🐰🐻
The children took handmade vegetables from a basket and “fed” them to the animals. 🐰🥕
小さな赤ちゃんでも参加できる、とても可愛いアトラクションでした！
It was a sweet activity that even very young children could enjoy. 🥹💕
Fishing Game 魚釣り
こちらも子どもたちに大人気！
This fishing game was also a big hit! 🎣
牛乳パックに輪ゴムが引っ掛けられていて、釣り糸が来ると仕掛けが動く仕組みになっていました。
The teachers created a clever fishing mechanism using milk cartons and rubber bands.
仕組みがとても面白くて、大人でも思わずドキドキしてしまいます（笑）。
The mechanism was surprisingly exciting—even for adults! 😂
我が家の1歳の息子も、5歳の娘も、とても集中してどんどん釣り上げていました！
Both my one-year-old son and five-year-old daughter became completely focused and kept catching more and more fish! 🥰🐟
Handmade Whac-A-Mole… with Crocodiles! 手作りわにわにパニック
これは本当に驚きました！
This one really impressed me! 😳
牛乳パックや色紙、シールを使って可愛いワニが作られていました🐊
Cute crocodiles were made using milk cartons, colored paper, and stickers.
後ろから先生がワニを押したり引いたりして、子どもたちの前にワニが現れます！
The crocodiles were pushed and pulled from behind, popping up in front of the children.
そして、子どもたちはワニを叩きます（笑）！
And then the children try to hit the crocodiles! 😂🐊
これは、日本のゲームセンターで昔から親しまれている「ワニワニパニック」のアナログ版のようなゲームです！
It was like a handmade, analog version of Wani Wani Panic, a classic Japanese arcade game similar to Whac-A-Mole!
こんなゲームまで手作りできるなんて、本当にすごいですよね！！
I couldn’t believe they had made something like this by hand! Amazing! 👏✨
Rolling Bowling コロコロボーリング
最後は、コロコロボーリング！
Finally, we played rolling bowling! 🎳
坂の上からボールを転がして、空のペットボトルを倒します。
The children rolled a ball down a slope and tried to knock over empty plastic bottles.
ルールがシンプルなので、小さな子どもでも参加できます！
The rules were simple, so even very young children could join in.
難しすぎず、みんなで盛り上がれる、とても楽しいゲームでした🥰
It wasn’t too difficult, and everyone could enjoy the excitement together!
Japanese Nursery School Teachers Are So Creative!
今回の縁日あそびを通して、改めて日本の保育園や幼稚園の先生方のアイデアの素晴らしさを感じました。
This festival reminded me once again how incredibly creative Japanese nursery and kindergarten teachers can be.
身近にあるものを使って、子どもたちが安全に、そして楽しく遊べるものを作る。
They use everyday materials to create safe and exciting activities for children.
しかも、それぞれに可愛いデザインや工夫がいっぱい！
And every activity is filled with adorable details and thoughtful ideas. 🥹💕
先生たちの愛情や努力がたくさん詰まった、素敵な一日でした。
It was such a lovely day, filled with the teachers’ creativity, effort, and love for the children. ❤️
