Shichi-Go-San Part 1 (Pre-Shooting)

What is Shichi-Go-San?

 

Shichi-Go-San is a traditional Japanese celebration that has been practiced for centuries. The ceremony is held to pray for the healthy growth and happiness of children. Traditionally, girls at the ages of three and seven, and boys at the age of five, visit a shrine around November 15th to express gratitude for their growth and to receive blessings.

The origins of Shichi-Go-San date back to the Heian period (794-1185), when three milestone ceremonies were performed:

• Kamioki (髪置き, Hair Growing Ceremony) at age 3

• Hakamagi (袴着, First Hakama Ceremony) at age 5

• Obitoki (帯解き, Removing the Obi Ceremony) at age 7

In ancient times, child mortality rates were high, so these rituals were important to celebrate children’s survival and pray for their future well-being.

Shooting

Although Shichi-Go-San is traditionally observed around November 15th, there is no strict rule on when to celebrate it. Recently, many families choose to avoid the peak season by scheduling their photoshoots in advance.

By opting for an early shoot, it’s easier to secure a rental kimono, and some studios offer discounts for off-season reservations.

Our family also decided to take advantage of an early pre-shoot!

📅 August 4th – Outfit Consultation

The studio was spacious, with a wide selection of outfits. We first chose our package and selected the outfits.

💰 Plan:

• Shooting fee + 2 outfits + hair & makeup = ¥3,300

• Additional charges for printed photos and other items

📅 August 30th – Pre-Shoot Day

On the day of the shoot, we didn’t need to prepare anything in advance. Our child arrived at the studio in casual clothes, and the transformation began!

✨ Dressing & Styling

In the dedicated Shichi-Go-San styling room, professional stylists quickly worked their magic—outfit change and hair & makeup were done in just 15 minutes! Parents waited outside, eagerly anticipating the reveal.

📸 First Look: Traditional Kimono

A variety of poses, props, and backgrounds were used to capture the best moments. After about 10 minutes, it was time for the second outfit!

👗 Second Look: Princess Dress

Once again, about 10 minutes of shooting with different angles and accessories.

Cost Breakdown & Summary

💰 Total Cost: ¥15,290

• Shooting fee: ¥3,000

• L-size photo: ¥2,000 per piece

• Keychain: ¥2,000

• Magnet: ¥2,000

Given that Shichi-Go-San photoshoots typically cost around ¥50,000, this was a fantastic deal!

The studio was clean, and facilities like restrooms and diaper-changing stations were well-prepared. The staff worked efficiently, ensuring a smooth experience for both parents and children.

七五三前編

そもそも七五三ってなんだっけ？

七五三（しちごさん）とは日本に古くからある伝統行事の一つです。 地域によって違いはありますが、三歳の女の子、五歳の男の子、七歳の女の子が11月15日に神社などにお参りをし、子供の成長を感謝しお祝いをする伝統行事です。

昔は子供の死亡率が非常に高かったため、このような節目に成長を祝い、子供の長寿と幸福を祈願したと言われています。

美しい写真を撮りたい！

11月15日前後が七五三のピークと言われていますが、七五三の時期に明確な決まりはないそうです。あえてシーズンの時期を避けるご家庭も増えています。時期をずらすことにより、衣装のレンタルなどは予約が取りやすかったり、早割キャンペーンなどでハイシーズンより少し安く借りられることもあります。

日本の定番、大人気スタジオ！

今回、私の家でも前撮りを早めに撮る事にしました。スタジオアリスを利用しました！

⚪︎8月4日　事前衣装打ち合わせ

店内は広々していて、衣装もたくさん置いてあります！

ここでプラン決めて、衣装を選びました。

今回のプランは、

撮影料+衣装2着+ヘアメイク=¥3,300

そこに、別で写真印刷やアイテム代というプランを選びました。

総額は、最後にまとめています！

⚪︎8月30日　前撮り当日

当日は、子どもはなんの準備もなく、いつもの格好でお店へ！

さっそく、753ルームとスタイリングルームでお着替え！

親たちは外で待機です。

プロのヘアメイクさんは、ものの15分ほどで着替えとヘアメイクを済ませてくれます。

特別な登場口から登場です！

まずは、和装！

色々な角度や、持ち物、背景でどんどん撮っていきます。5パターンで10分ほど撮影したあと、2着目のお着替え！

次はドレス！

こちらも、5パターン10分ほど撮影しました。

 

お得なプラン料金

今回のプランでは、総額¥15,290

撮影料¥3,000

L版の写真で1枚¥2,000、

キーホルダー1つ¥2,000、

マグネット1つ¥2,000、

だいたいこのくらいでした！

大体、撮影の相場は¥50,000と言われているのでとてもリーズナブルに満足したものができたと思いました！

店内は、とても綺麗でトイレはもちろん、おむつ替えができるスペースがあります。子供のぐずりを考えてなのか、とても手際が良かったです。
